Ro-z (pronounced like "Rosie") Edelston has been an avid theatre technician since the age of 11 when they first discovered the hobby as an after school club. It quickly became the focus of their life, and they went on to earn their BA in theatre production with a focus in lighting design from McDaniel College with departmental honors.
In their time as a technician and designer, Ro-z has found something enjoyable about every single production. They seized every opportunity for involvement in tech in the numerous productions from middle school up through college, and experienced the whirlwind work schedules at their beloved summer camp, Buck's Rock Camp (2011-2012), and at the summer internship which directly followed college graduation, at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (2013). For the next 5 years, which wrapped up at the end of 2018, Ro-z was the proud Lighting Director at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater in Peekskill, NY, a venue which hosts scores of concerts and other live events from year to year. In addition to their lighting responsibilities at the Paramount, Ro-z changed the titles on the classic illuminated marquee outside the theatre entrance, edited the trailer reel which plays before every show, and is the friendly voice that gives the preshow announcement each night at the start of the show. Ro-z is currently a freelancer in Westchester and the NY-metro area and keeps up with numerous hobbies outside of work. Among those are learning to play guitar and bass, attending contra dances and folk festivals, writing, drawing, and running. Above all, theatre is a genuine love. It's a home, it's a family, and it's where they plan to stay. |
